What's going on?: My manager and friend Ana is currently feeling hopeless. She was with her husband for 12 years, then he cheated and within 2 months of leaving her, he bought a new house with his mistress and is helping raise her 2 kids. Meanwhile, he left his own 5-year- old daughter, Penelope behind with Ana in their house that he no longer pays for. He sees Penelope every other weekend and once during the week, but he makes no effort to connect with her, barely paying child support. Penelope is having a really hard time focusing in school and it's overwhelming for Ana. She tries her best to be a newly single parent, but within the last year and a half since her ex left her car has been keyed twice, her ex-husbands girlfriend has tried to fight her, she's been in 3 car accidents, her oven stopped working, her car just got broken into and they stole the $500 she had to pay her child custody lawyer, and her furnace just broke today as well. I don't understand why these things keep happening to her, but she is at a point where she is ready to give up. I know she struggles daily with the fact that she can't keep her head above water and she is really upset about how everything is affecting her daughter. Since the moment she was born, Penelope has been Ana's entire life. She lives for her daughter, and she would do anything for her. I would just like her to know that she is doing an amazing job with Penelope and as for everything else that keeps happening to her, she just has to keep being strong and she will make it through. She is a Christian and I am not so it's hard for me to relate to her on that level but I would love for others to pray for her. She would appreciate that. She's a tough woman and I admire her and I know her daughter does too.
What do you love most about this girl?: She's a great mother. Great boss. Great friend. Great coworker. She is stronger than she realizes. She always puts other people before herself.
Anything else you want to tell us? She is really struggling and I want to make her smile again.
